Apollo develops products to meet the needs of three customer
segments:
1) patients requiring prescribed treatments
2) individuals with conditions that can be alleviated by
over-the-counter treatments
3) scientists using proteins for research and development.
In the therapeutics market, Apollo develops treatments across a wide range of disease markets which currently lack convenient and/or effective treatments. Product benefits stem from the combination of Apollo's technology platforms, which can deliver water and oil soluble molecules up to antibody size in a tablet or topical (skin) application, and its large library of natural human (hcx™) proteins. Together these provide a foundation to create potentially transforming treatments.
Apollo focuses primarily on therapeutic markets for protein-based
drugs (biopharmaceuticals). The market for biopharmaceuticals has
an estimated value of US$50 billion per annum and 10% annual growth.
The market for TNF blockers - just one category of
biopharmaceuticals used to treat conditions such as rheumatoid
arthritis and psoriasis - is estimated to be worth US$10 billion a
year. Bio-pharmaceuticals, which use proteins or antibodies instead
of synthesised chemical compounds, are a growing class of
therapeutics for diseases ranging from cancer to inflammation and
autoimmunity. Proteins and antibodies together made up approximately 57% of the
new biopharmaceutical entities approved by the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) in 2005.
Apollo's initial development focus is on the diabetes and inflammation therapeutic markets.

Apollo is also developing products for two other markets in order to
generate early cash flow.
In the Over-the-Counter (OTC)/Wellness market, Apollo applies its
oral and transdermal delivery platforms and knowledge of skin and
inflammatory conditions to develop products that are available without
prescription.
Apollo is leveraging its natural human protein technology by selling
a large range of research grade proteins and detection kits to science
researchers in universities, research institutes and companies. The
total market for research proteins is US$400 million per annum. Initial
sales and distribution for both markets are primarily via the web.
