Company signs new distributor | Apollo has appointed a Japanese distributor to promote and distribute products from its portfolio of innovative human proteins and detection kits.
Funakoshi is a leading provider of research reagents and instruments to researchers in life science fields, offering leading edge technologies from all over the world to Japanese researchers in order to support and develop their work.
Apollo produces an extensive range of unique human cell expressed proteins (hcxTM) and detection kits (AccuKineTM ELISA Kits) through Apollo Cytokine Research, its fully owned subsidiary.
“We are delighted that Funakoshi approached us about distributing our products in Japan. This opens up an important sales channel for us,” said John Priest, Apollo CEO.
“Funakoshi’s leadership in the distribution of products for life science research is well recognised throughout Japan, and we look forward to a long and fruitful cooperation.”
Funakoshi offers products to a large range of research institutes and universities, as well as biotechnological, agricultural, food and pharmaceutical companies. Founded in 1923, the company is headquartered in Tokyo.
Apollo produces the world’s largest range of tag-free fully human proteins. Unlike most products offered by competitors that are produced in cells from animals, yeast or bacteria, Apollo’s hcxTM proteins are produced from human cells.
Researchers use specific proteins in experiments to encourage or
limit the growth or maturation of other cells and molecules, and to test the effectiveness of potential new therapeutics.
Proteins available from most competitors will not always reliably behave the same way in experiments as proteins from the human body because they contain some non-human elements as a result of how they are produced.
