Apollo on the ground in the US

Apollo's hcx proteins
Apollo has set up a US presence for its proteins business, appointing Michael Hagen as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, USA. He will be based in San Clemente, California.

Scientists in the US are the leading customers for Apollo's innovative, fully human cell expressed proteins. Having someone on the ground will help drive sales growth in this major market.

Michael has a strong track record in the field, built through 20 years working with leading biotechnology and life sciences companies in the US, Asia and Australia.

Michael Hagen joins Apollo
He has launched new biotech products into multi million dollar sales territories and driven expansion into China, India and Thailand, as well as managing national sales operations up to US$20 million.

Michael’s early scientific training helps him work well with customers. He has coauthored articles for the American Association of Clinical Chemists and held research positions at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Michigan State University.

"We are delighted to have Michael Hagen join us. With 20 years’ experience in the Life Sciences area he will enable us to grow our North American markets and help us build strong brand awareness,” said Leanne Daly, President of Sales and Marketing for Apollo Cytokine Research.

Michael Hagen will be promoting and distributing Apollo’s human cell expressed proteins (hcx™) and detection kits (AccuKline™ ELISA).

Apollo's proteins, expressed from human cells, have an edge over other recombinant proteins, which come from bacteria, insect or rodent cells. This can mean they behave more like proteins in the human body, and don’t cause cross-species contamination.

Apollo’s hcx proteins are currently being used by researchers throughout the world, including the US, the UK and Europe. In Australia, they are also used at major teaching hospitals, universities and non-government agencies including the Red Cross.

Researchers use specific proteins in experiments to encourage or limit the growth and differentiation of other cells and to test the effectiveness of new therapeutics.

" Michael Hagen is an extremely valuable addition as he provides us with skill and experience on the ground in the US, our largest market.” said John Priest, Apollo CEO.
