| Global Media Attention for Apollo’s Stem Cell Proteins |
Apollo booth at ISSCR Conference | Australia became the focus of international scientific attention in June when more than 1,000 international experts in stem cell research converged on the north Queensland city of Cairns. It was the first time the annual conference of the International Society for Stem Cell Research had been held outside North America, and the tropical setting, combined with Australia’s international reputation as leaders in stem cell research, meant that the scientific and trade media made its way to Cairns as well.
Apollo’s media release on stem cells included in this newsletter was timed to coincide with the Cairns meeting, and led to global attention for Apollo’s human cell expressed proteins
Having the world’s largest range of these human based proteins puts Apollo in the driver’s seat when it comes to delivering the sorts of proteins crucial for the development of stem cell therapies worldwide, according to CEO, Mr John Priest. And the world’s journalists agreed, filing copy for online publications and editorials internationally, including the following:

The media focused on Apollo as one of only a handful of companies internationally producing human based proteins for both stem cell research and human therapeutics caught the media’ attention. Any therapies or drugs based for use in humans will need to be made using human cell expressed proteins. To use the more commonly available proteins, made in bacteria or animals, can lead to the risk of cross species contamination.
Mr Priest said that international media coverage would boost recognition of Apollo’s protein production arm, and would – by association – bring its two patented delivery system to the attention of the global pharmaceutical industry. “Apollo is starting to make waves internationally, and the media coverage we received in June was recognition of that growing global profile that we are aiming to achieve,” he said.
